The 1950s wave of figures, George Adamski, George Van Tassel, and later Billy Meier, claiming ongoing contact with benevolent, human-looking “Space Brothers”, the original popular source of the Nordics image. Documented entanglements run through the movement: Adamski’s Nazi sympathies, Van Tassel’s Giant Rock inheritance from a Nazi spy, and George Hunt Williamson’s editing for William Dudley Pelley’s fascist Silver Shirts. Closer Encounters asks whether the Contactees were tasked with trialling a falsely benevolent Nordic image ahead of a managed Disclosure.
