Address to the 42nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, New York, 21 September 1987, in which President Reagan said: “I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world.” He turned the figure around in the next breath, asking “is not an alien force already among us?” and answering with war itself. He had used the same image privately with Gorbachev at Geneva in 1985 and publicly at Fallston High School that December. It is the single most quoted political line in the disclosure literature, usually as evidence of foreknowledge; in context it is rhetoric about arms control, which is the reading a careful reader has to sit with. The dream it states, that a confirmed outside presence would unite us, is also the dream that Sovereignty and the UFO and most of the archive contradict.
