Egyptian Egyptologist who excavated the Great Sphinx and its enclosure through the 1930s and published The Sphinx: Its History in the Light of Recent Excavations in Cairo in 1949. He is quoted more often than any other Egyptologist in Origins of the Sphinx, and both halves of what he wrote belong in the same entry.
The sentence the revisionists use
On the Dream Stela he wrote that excepting line thirteen, “which proves nothing, there is not one single ancient inscription which connects the Sphinx with Khafre.” Coming from the man who dug the site, that is the strongest statement of the documentary gap anyone has made.
The conclusion he actually reached
He attributed the Sphinx to Khafre anyway. Origins of the Sphinx states this plainly in chapter seven while the rest of the book quotes only his reservation. A reader who takes the first sentence should know the second is his too.
