Mass-witness contact case at the Ariel School near Ruwa, Zimbabwe, on the morning of 16 September 1994. During morning break roughly sixty children, most of them between six and twelve, reported a craft landing at the edge of the playing field and one or more small beings with large wraparound black eyes. Several described a message received without speech, about technology and about what people were doing to the earth.

Why it carries weight

The witnesses were children, numerous, questioned quickly and separately, and drawing rather than talking. The Zimbabwean researcher Cynthia Hind reached the school within days and collected the first drawings; John E. Mack came out later that year and interviewed the children on camera, and the BBC correspondent Tim Leach filmed as well. The footage and drawings were made public and were revisited in the documentary Ariel Phenomenon in 2022, with several of the same witnesses as adults.

What it does and does not establish

It establishes that a large group of children, independently and immediately, described the same event in the same terms, which is unusual in the record and is the reason the case survives. It establishes nothing about what was in the field. The case is the clearest fingerprint on the beings in Disclosure Day, and it is the strand of Experiencers work John E. Mack spent the last decade of his life on.
