United States Army lieutenant general, 1902 to 1991. He commanded the 7th Infantry Division in Korea, served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, and was Chief of Research and Development from 1958 until his retirement in 1962. In that last post his covering letter carries Project Horizon, the Army’s 1959 study for a manned military outpost on the moon.
He is the second figure in Philip J. Corso’s account, the officer said to have handed over the Roswell cabinet and approved feeding its contents into defence contracts. Trudeau died six years before the book appeared and left no statement about any of it. His documented career is otherwise a straightforward record of the Army’s research establishment at the height of the missile and space competition, which is what makes his name useful to the account and impossible to check against it.
