Utah commercial property figure who bought Skinwalker Ranch from Robert Bigelow in 2016 and, from 2020, opened it to the History Channel series The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, which is how most people now encounter the site.
Why the ownership change matters to the record
The ranch has had three research eras with three different evidentiary standards: Bigelow’s private study from 1996, the AAWSAP and BAASS contract work of 2008 to 2010, and the televised era since 2020. Claims made in the third are routinely cited as though they came from the second.
The clearest instance is radiation. The television era has featured dramatic on-camera detections of hazardous gamma radiation on the property. James Lacatski went back to the 2009 and 2010 BAASS Geiger counter readings and reported in Future Visions that AAWSAP found no evidence of gamma radiation at any location on the ranch, a correction published against his own side and against a team he thanks in the same book.
