Investigative journalist, author of UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record (2010), and one of the three bylines on the New York Times UAP Story 2017 that opened the modern era.

Why the name recurs

She is the connecting thread across the whole modern record rather than a commentator on it. The 2010 book assembled named military and government witnesses on the record and is the template In Plain Sight works in; the December 2017 story disclosed AATIP; and in June 2023 she and Ralph Blumenthal published the first account of David Grusch’s claims. Three of the events the disclosure argument rests on reached the public through the same reporter, which is a fact worth holding in both directions: it is a record of persistent access, and it is a narrower set of independent channels than the volume of coverage suggests.

She also works outside the subject, on survival-of-consciousness research, which is the reason some of her critics discount her and some of her sources trust her.
