Luis Elizondo’s 2024 bestseller. Per V3: “In the book I talk about, yes, that the government is in possession of material, exotic material that doesn’t look like it’s made by us.”

What the book is

A memoir by the officer who, by his account, ran AATIP from 2010 until his resignation in October 2017, and who then led the campaign that put three Navy videos into the press and UAP language into three successive defence bills. Published 20 August 2024, it entered the New York Times bestseller list at number one.

The two layers

The institutional account is the part with a paper trail: the appendix reproduces the author’s own emails, his resignation memorandum and Senator Harry Reid’s letter, and the Form 1910 release route is nameable and was later matched by the Department’s own release of the same clips. The Legacy Program layer reaches the reader entirely as what the author was told, with no document and no named first-hand witness. The book marks the difference itself: “Let me emphasize that this is what was told to me at the time” (p. 114).

Read alongside

AARO Historical Record Report 2024 for the official counter, In Plain Sight for the same ground through a journalist, and Future Visions for the programme director’s own account of the same years.
