German robotics engineer who in 1993 sent the Upuaut-2 crawler up the southern shaft of the Queen’s Chamber in the Great Pyramid of Giza and found it stopped, some sixty metres in, by a fitted limestone slab carrying two corroded copper pins. “Gantenbrink’s door” has anchored every speculation about the shafts since. Christopher Dunn rereads the pins as the electrodes of a float switch signalling for more chemical solution, and predicts cables or wires behind them. The slab was drilled through in 2002 and its hidden face finally photographed by the Djedi Project in 2010.
