A memorandum of 15 January 2008 from four technology centre group directors, quoted by Paul LaViolette, lists perpetual motion machines, antigravity devices, room-temperature superconductivity, free energy, tachyons, superluminal light propagation, anything violating the general laws of physics, and anything of pioneering scope or likely to generate extensive publicity. It is the documentary basis of the book’s argument about patent gatekeeping.
