Term of art from the mid-1950s aerospace literature for propulsion by direct coupling of electric charge to gravitation, as distinct from ion propulsion. The industry usage was set out in the Electrogravitics Systems Report 1956, which coined counterbary for lift achieved by such means and barycentric control for steering by them. The measured laboratory effect it rests on is the Biefeld-Brown Effect. The subject leaves the open literature around 1959, which Paul LaViolette reads as classification and others read as an enthusiasm that collapsed once careful measurement attributed the thrust to ion wind.
