The United States Air Force component command for special operations forces, headquartered at Hurlburt Field, Florida. AFSOC appears in the UAP record as the originating command of PURSUE Release 05 record DOW-UAP-D101, the intelligence information report on the Gulf of Oman Incident 2021.

The report was originated by AFSOC A2OX, classified by AFSOC A2OH, with a point of contact at AFSOC A2H, and was acquired on 7 April 2022 at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico. It describes an AC-130 gunship crew’s observation of Cold Orbs over the Gulf of Oman on 8 September 2021 during live-fire training, and the failure of the aircraft’s digital video recorder that destroyed the primary sensor footage.

The report was published on 27 April 2022 and coordinated with the U.S. Defense Attaché Office in Muscat and SOCCENT J2X without comment. It records no coordination with any UAP-specific body, which is chronologically consistent: AARO was established in July 2022. It was declassified by the USCENTCOM Chief of Staff on 20 March 2026 and approved for release to AARO six days later.
