The United States Air Force intelligence centre at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base that ran Project Blue Book in the early 1950s, and the office through which most Air Force flying saucer paperwork of 1952 passed. It was later reorganised as the Foreign Technology Division.
PURSUE Release 06 shows it from both ends. In the Project Blue Book case folder on the Tremonton Film 1952, DOW-UAP-D102, its forms, worksheets and handwritten notes carry the case from 1952 to 1956, and a draft press statement came back to it for coordination on 26 February 1953. In the Flying Discs File 1952, Headquarters USAF office AFOIN-2A2 sends it material under the recurring subject line “Material for Project Blue Book”, among it a staff study on CIRVIS reporting procedures that contained revisions affecting the project, and it is named as having made the field investigation of the West Palm Beach Incident 1952.
A 1952 talk released as DOW-UAP-D154 and credited to Edward J. Ruppelt describes “the center” appointing a permanent project engineer and planning instruments for the sighting reports it received.
