The US government’s accelerated declassification programme for unresolved UAP records. Framed as a presidential directive to find, review, declassify and publicly release the government’s UAP holdings on a rolling timeline. Coordinated by the Department of War and published at war.gov/ufo, with records drawn from the White House, ODNI, the Department of Energy, AARO, NASA and the FBI.
Releases
- Release 01, published 8 May 2026. Around 160 documents, photographs and 27 short video clips, most of them infrared, dated 1940s to 2020s. The largest and most coherent block is the USCENTCOM aircrew mission reports.
- Release 02, published 22 May 2026. 51 video clips, PR050 to PR099, located after eight members of Congress requested access on 6 March 2026. Carries a chain-of-custody caveat: many files lack a substantiated provenance and uploader-assigned titles are not verified.
- Release 03, published 12 June 2026. 53 documents, 10 images and digital renderings, six videos and three NASA audio recordings, drawn from the CIA, FBI, NASA and the Department of War and spanning the 1940s to 2026. The CIA and NASA material is largely historical: the Robertson Panel, Project Blue Book Special Report No. 14, the U-2 and OXCART overflights, and the Gemini astronaut debriefings.
- Release 04, published 10 July 2026. 40 records spanning 1948 to 2025, drawing on Department of War, CIA, NASA, Department of Energy and FBI material. The written records take in the 1948-49 Air Intelligence Study 203, the 1949 Los Alamos green-fireball conference, the Avro saucer file and Project Blue Book’s correspondence; the video records cover an Indo-Pacific cluster, US-homeland clips and a 1996 tape.
- Release 05, published 7 August 2026. 41 records, being 21 documents, 4 images and 16 videos, spanning 1947 to 2026. The first release to carry an Executive Office of the President record and the first with State Department cables under a DOS prefix, alongside Department of War, CIA and FBI material.
- Release 06, published 18 September 2026. 72 files, 56 PDFs and 16 videos: the Project Blue Book file on the Tremonton Film 1952 and the Air Force Flying Discs File 1952; mission reports and sensor clips from USCENTCOM and USINDOPACOM, each clip opening on the UAP Postponement Code caption; the AAWSAP Contract HHM402-08-C-0072 file and 37 DIRDs, their authors replaced by AAP Person Labels; and, under a new LLE-UAP- prefix, a Colorado law enforcement report (Colorado Orb Sighting 2023).
- Release 07, published 23 October 2026. 28 PDFs running to 1,139 pages, with no video, image or audio record: fourteen Air Force reports of 1949 to 1957, most on the Air Intelligence Information Report form, four of them from Catalina Island (Catalina Island Sightings 1949-1955); nine BAASS records of 2008 to 2010 (BAASS Project Management Plan 2008, BAASS Monthly Reports 2009, Utah Ranch Investigation 2009-2010, BAASS Capabilities Report 2010); a 2026 AARO memorandum for record paired with an FBI FD-302 (Triangle over the Ridge 2026); interagency papers of 1962 to 1964 on space vehicle fragments paired with a 1963 memorandum (Space Vehicle Fragments File 1962-1964); and the personnel file of H. M. McCoy. The BAASS records and the AARO memorandum mark withheld text with labels beginning 1843, and most BAASS records replace names with substitution labels; no page explains either.
Significance
The first time the routine paperwork of how the US government logs UAP encounters has been published openly through a traceable .gov channel. PURSUE documents are the primary source base for the Document Briefings series.
