The idea, popularised in ufology by Richard Dolan, that a faction with access to classified science has split off technologically from the visible world and operates beyond public institutions. Closer Encounters radicalises the concept: Jason Reza Jorjani identifies the breakaway group as a “Nordic” elite seeded in the nineteenth century, matured through the SS Die Glocke experiments, and operating as time travellers across the whole timeline, making the Nordics of occupant reports human. In that book the concept absorbs the Time-Traveler Hypothesis and Zero-Point Energy lore into a single claimed civilisation.
Distinct from the Lost Civilization Hypothesis in direction of time: a contemporary splinter rather than a destroyed antecedent, though the two are often run together.
