United States Air Force sergeant in precision electronics photographic repair who said that in 1965, on a maintenance call at Langley Air Force Base, an airman in a NASA-linked facility showed him mosaic prints from Lunar Orbiter imagery containing what the airman described as structures on the far side of the Moon.
The evidential position
He first told the story publicly at the Disclosure Project briefing in 2001 and repeated it consistently until his death. There is no print, no case number and no second witness; what there is, is a single named man with a documented posting and a consistent forty-year account. That places it exactly where the record places most of the astronaut and technician testimony: checkable as to the man, uncheckable as to the claim.
A note on the name
He is Karl Wolfe. The spelling “Carl Wolf” appears in some secondary sources, including the source note on the Jorjani - Danny Jones Podcast 2025 interview on this site, and should be corrected where it occurs. He died in a bicycle accident in 2019; the suggestion in that interview that the death was deliberate is offered by the speaker as his own suspicion, and no evidence supports it.
