Nonlinear optical effect in which a beam is returned along its incoming path as a time-reversed wave, published in the open literature after laser work at the Lebedev Physical Institute in 1972. Paul LaViolette argues that black aerospace projects were exploiting it at microwave frequencies two decades earlier, and that a phase-locked soliton standing between a craft’s hull and the ground would act as an energy store large enough to lift the craft. This is the mechanism he assigns to Project Skyvault, and retrospectively to Nikola Tesla’s Wardenclyffe tower.
