The Central Intelligence Agency’s covert mind-control and behavioural-engineering program (c. 1953 to 1973), run by the Technical Services Staff under Sidney Gottlieb. It tested LSD, hypnosis, sensory deprivation and interrogation methods, often on non-consenting subjects. Most files were destroyed on the CIA Director’s order in 1973; the surviving record surfaced through a FOIA cache and the 1975 Church Committee. On the site it is the real-world proof that the government did run secret, deniable experiments on the human mind, the dark backdrop to the Stargate Program psi work.
