The United States programme that brought German scientists and engineers to America after the Second World War, in many cases sanitising or suppressing records of Nazi party membership and of complicity in war crimes. Its documented history is established in Tom Bower’s The Paperclip Conspiracy (1987) and Christopher Simpson’s Blowback (1988), the two works The Hunt for Zero Point builds its transfer thesis on. In April 2001 the CIA released twenty files on recruited Nazi war criminals under Congressional directive, confirming much of Simpson’s account.
Cook’s argument is that a programme willing to accommodate the figures it did would certainly have accommodated Hans Kammler. He also states plainly in his epilogue that no hard evidence places Kammler in the United States.
