Nimitz-class aircraft carrier whose air wing logged the East Coast encounters of late 2014 and 2015 off Virginia, the modern counterpart to the USS Nimitz case ten years earlier. In 2015 Fleet Forces Command passed twenty-two of those encounters to Jay Stratton at AATIP.
What the air wing reported
Upgraded radar and infrared agreed with the pilots’ eyes, and Ryan Graves and other VFA-11 pilots described the objects as a near-daily presence on the training range. One encounter involved a transparent sphere with a cube inside it that passed between two Hornets. Two of the clips from this period became GoFast and GIMBAL.
