Four short files in PURSUE Release 07, DOW-UAP-D181, D179, D178 and D177, on lights and objects reported over or near Santa Catalina Island off Southern California in April 1949, June 1952, November 1953 and March 1955. Each runs to two to five pages, each holds a ruled card that sums up its case, and each carries a declassification overlay citing NND 923007 on its first page. The release titles call all four an Unresolved UAP Report; neither word appears on any of their pages.
The 1949 file is a private handwritten letter, with a transmittal card recording a first indorsement from the 17th District at Kirtland Field. The letter reports six objects seen singly on the night of 28 April and four more seen minutes later from another family home nearby; its record card gives the conclusion insufficient data for evaluation, and a pencilled note on the letter says it was not acknowledged. The 1952 file is a report of the 807th Air Base Group at March Air Force Base, on the Air Intelligence Information Report form, dated 28 August 1952. It sets down what three Boy Scouts on a hike said they saw on 25 June 1952: one silver object, its speed estimated to be faster than a conventional jet, silent, which made what the report calls apparently a climbing turn before it disappeared by disintegration. The form gives the evaluation as None, and a copy went to the Air Technical Intelligence Center. The 1953 file is a teletype on a round object, purplish white at first, watched for ten minutes on the night of 16 November; its card concludes Astronomical (Jupiter), while the teletype’s astronomers speak only of possibly planets. The 1955 file is a squadron teletype, submitted under Air Force Regulation 200-2, on a bright orange object that fell straight down in two seconds; its officer judged it probably a meteor, and a UFOB index card of the 4602d Air Intelligence Service Squadron records that no further investigation was deemed worthwhile.
None of the four refers to another. The 1955 card carries the printed title PROJECT 10073 RECORD CARD, as does the card in the Release 06 case folder on the Tremonton Film 1952 whose release title calls it a Project Blue Book file, and the 1949 card reads PROJECT 10073 RECORD; nothing on these pages refers to that case. The 1949 and 1953 cards are printed on a form edition marked FTD SEP 63, which suggests they were typed in or after September 1963; no page says when either was made. Outside the record, FTD is the Foreign Technology Division, which succeeded the Air Technical Intelligence Center. The war.gov site names the 1955 witness, the 1949 letter writer and his addressee; this entry gives them by role.
