The claim that the phenomenon studied at Skinwalker Ranch attaches itself to investigators and follows them home, producing poltergeist activity, apparitions and animal disturbances at addresses hundreds of miles from the property. Named and set out in Skinwalkers at the Pentagon (2021) by James Lacatski, Colm Kelleher and George Knapp, and elaborated by Kelleher as a contagion model rather than a location effect, it emerged from the AAWSAP contract work carried out by BAASS between 2008 and 2010. It is unfalsifiable as stated and was disputed inside the programme itself, but it is the reason later investigators began treating exposure, rather than the site, as the hazard.
