PURSUE Release 06 record DOW-UAP-D152, Negative Mass Propulsion, a Defense Intelligence Reference Document of 3 January 2011 (DIRDs), dated on its cover after the last extension of the AAWSAP Contract HHM402-08-C-0072.
Its Summary says negative masses are all around us, hidden behind positive masses. Freeing them with strong fields or high particle energies it rules out as beyond what is technically attainable; the other route is to mine them where nature has done the separation, in deep gravitational wells such as the centre of the Moon, which, it says, could revolutionise interstellar flight given a good supply. It supposes an ultra-light form 100,000 times lighter than steel with the strength of steel, proposes seismic tomography from nuclear explosions to find it, and a tunnel made with nuclear and thermonuclear explosives to reach it. Its Conclusion calls macroscopic bodies approaching zero rest mass a speculative existence, and says negative mass propulsion is unlikely to be possible in the fashion Forward speculated, if it is possible at all.
A second paper in the series, on antigravity, runs other routes to controlling gravity through order-of-magnitude estimates and finds most of them infeasible (Anti-Gravity, Exotic Matter).
