British defence journalist, aviation editor of Jane’s Defence Weekly for much of the 1990s and author of The Hunt for Zero Point. His position in the trade press is what distinguishes the book from most of the antigravity literature: the interview access is real and largely on the record, including the Pentagon’s outgoing chief of Air Force acquisition, the president of the Skunk Works, NASA’s advanced propulsion managers and the mathematician who ran British Aerospace’s Project Greenglow. Cook writes more than once that getting the subject wrong would have ended his career.
Against that, the two sources supplying most of the book’s interpretation, a physicist and a former colleague, appear only under pseudonyms and cannot be checked by a reader. Cook repeatedly demolishes his own most attractive material, including the Nazi Flying Disc Legend and the claim that the B-2 flies on an antigravity drive.
