BAASS’s investigation of a ranch in Utah, as two records of PURSUE Release 07 show it: four sections of the November 2009 monthly report, DOW-UAP-D173 (BAASS Monthly Reports 2009), and a 60-page field report on deployments in March and April 2010, DOW-UAP-D174, released as Utah Ranch Investigation Report April 2010. The property’s own name sits under a box carrying a substitution label, and this entry does not give it.
The November 2009 report says BAASS began round-the-clock surveillance of the Utah property on 3 August 2009. Its sections give security officers’ logs of 10 to 21 November 2009, among them a stereo that turned on by itself and pennies found moved from a set arrangement; a field trip of 16 to 19 November in which two investigators report five additional witnesses to an unidentified flying object, a bright blue orb and/or a large dog like creature; seed germination experiments, and brain teaser games in locked briefcases and puzzle boxes, one holding tiles in a Fibonacci series for any intelligence there to continue; and a memorandum on a website about the ranch, whose threat assessment a later note withdraws. The report says the officers’ coin reports are open to the criticism that fraud by the officers, trespassers or animals could easily explain them, and its conclusion announces a separate Capella database for the events on the ranch and surrounding areas.
The 2010 report covers two deployments, 22 to 26 March and 19 to 23 April, by a team of two investigators and two scientists. As of 7 May 2010 over twenty-five people had been interviewed in person, every name boxed. Its findings describe eleven independent witnesses to a dog or wolf like creature, or creatures, six to seven feet tall on two legs, with other reports of small hairy creatures, a pterodactyl like creature and “little people”; photographs of unidentified tracks in snow; and a strong electromagnetic signal at a point on the mesa, yet to be explained. A map extrapolates the creatures’ reported lines of travel and circles three crossings near the ranch, while allowing that they could be construed as arbitrary. Plants were set out as biosensors, and a seed experiment ran beside a control kept at BAASS.
The findings say hair samples are undergoing DNA analysis, while the appendix holds a laboratory letter of 27 April 2010 matching one sample to raccoon and three to one canine sequence, and a BAASS email reading those three as likely from one dog, the match not 100% definitive, with control hairs from one of the dogs on a property whose name is boxed. The report gives no camera or seed results and reports no attempt at the communication its fourth aim proposes. BAASS’s capability report of November 2010 lists a Utah Ranch Database and a Post-Utah Ranch Effects Database among its eleven databases (BAASS Capabilities Report 2010). Neither the 2009 nor the 2010 record cites the other, and neither names a sponsoring programme, agency or contract.
