The Radiation Dose
On a December night in 1980, three people on a Texas farm road met a diamond of flame and heat, and the sky filled with helicopters; within days they were hurt in ways that made a radiologist say ionising radiation, and only that. Twenty-nine years later a Georgia man was held for three seconds in a bluish-white beam, and a physician eventually wrote a number under his year of symptoms: about 300 Gy. This instrument takes both files seriously enough to do the arithmetic: the dated symptoms bracket a few gray, the 300 Gy hypothesis collides with the survival wall, and every candidate source gets a price tag, from megacuries of bare gamma to tens of kilowatts of microwave to a bonfire's worth of plain heat. The injuries are real. The bench prices what could have caused them, and shows you where every explanation is expensive.

The Scene view rebuilds the two nights from testimony and nothing else: the Texas farm road with the diamond venting its flame column over the pines, the car with its headlights on and the counted escort blinking in the distance; or the Georgia backyard with the ~300-foot triangle overhead and the 2-3 foot beam holding the spot where the witness stood. The standoff dial is labelled ASSUMED because nobody measured either distance, and every price on the bench moves with its inverse square.
The Clock view is the instrument's core: time on one axis, dose on the other, the standard triage anchors drawn as bands, prodrome ~1 Gy, erythema ~2, epilation ~3 with its strict 14-21 day latency window, LD50 ~4.5, GI ~8, desquamation ~15, neurovascular ~25, and the documented course of whichever case you loaded plotted as dated markers. A red survival wall shades the region where patients die before their own follow-ups: the 300 Gy line enters it within hours.
The Source view prices three channels side by side for your dialled dose, distance and exposure: the gamma ladder (your requirement against a radiography camera, the Goiânia capsule, a teletherapy head, a sterilization plant), the microwave ladder (ICNIRP limits, sunlight, the Active Denial System, your burn requirement, and the emitter wattage that would do it), and the plain-heat bar (what the flame column actually delivers at your standoff, against fire-safety pain and burn thresholds).
The Escort view takes the strangest number in the Texas file, "at least 23 helicopters", and does logistics to it: 480 tonnes at max gross, ~25,300 litres of fuel an hour, 1.4 Army companies of the era's CH-47Cs, next to the military's denial. The File view lays out the paper trail card by card, sources named, including the clashes: the book whose chapter header and text disagree on the event's date, and the page that says "300 Gy" and "non-ionizing" in the same breath.
Why it's here
This site's casework line keeps measuring what was SEEN: Kaikoura priced photometry, the Belgian Wave priced kinematics. This instrument works a different kind of record: people got hurt. Cash-Landrum is the most medically documented UAP case in the United States, with photographs, hospital admissions and a federal lawsuit's medical exhibits on file; BAASS's PMPA #6 is the best-constrained beam-injury record in the literature, with a government-programme pedigree. The injuries themselves are not in dispute. What is in dispute are the two verdicts quoted everywhere: a radiologist's "could only be ionising radiation", and a contract physician's "about 300 Gy". Verdicts can be priced. That is why this bench exists.
It also picks up a thread Culture 11 left hanging: in section 9.2 of "Secrets of Antigravity Propulsion", LaViolette reads the same Texas injuries as a microwave beam that "mistakenly locked on", a claim this site has built the Stealth Bench and Electrogravitics around, but never priced in this specific form. Here it is priced: the microwave channel is buildable at tens of kilowatts, the cheapest of the three exotic channels, and it buys the wrong injuries, because thermal burns do not schedule hair loss on day 18 or shift blood counts. As with the Nuclear Lure, this instrument's output is not a verdict but a price list: where each candidate cause is cheap, and where it goes bankrupt, laid out for you.
How it works
One inverse-square law, one fluence threshold, one anchor table. Every number on screen computes live from the dials, and the tune script pins all of it.

The anchor table is the medicine. Prodromal nausea above ~1 Gy; transient erythema ~2; temporary epilation ~3 with onset locked to day 14-21 by the hair follicle's cell cycle; LD50/60 ~4.5 untreated; GI syndrome ~8; radiation desquamation ~15 on a weeks scale; neurovascular collapse ~25 with death in 24-48 hours. These are consensus midpoints from the triage literature, drawn as bands. The bench adds nothing to them; it only asks which band the dated record can live in.
The gamma bill is inverse square and nothing else. A bare point source of activity A delivers dose rate Γ·A/d². Invert it and the record's geometry becomes a price: 5 Gy at 40 m in five minutes wants ~7.4 MCi of Co-60, which is about 5,400 Goiânia capsules or more than a sterilization plant's entire inventory, unshielded over a farm road. The Georgia beam's three seconds are harsher: hundreds of megacuries. Choosing Cs-137 instead multiplies the bill by 3.8. Any shielding or collimation only raises it.
The microwave bill is a burn fluence. A second-degree burn at seconds scale needs about 21 J/cm² (the flash-burn number from the weapons-effects literature), so a 3-second burn is ~7 W/cm² at the skin: 7,000 times the ICNIRP public limit, 70 suns, and yet only tens of kilowatts of emitter through a one-metre dish at these ranges. The fluence is a flash number, so for long exposures the requirement stops falling at 0.25 W/cm², the flux that brings pain in about thirty seconds: Cash-Landrum's five minutes still need that at the skin, about 2 kW of emitter. That asymmetry is the honest finding: the microwave channel is cheap to build and biologically wrong, because dielectric heating does not epilate on a schedule or drift a blood count.
The heat bill is a view factor. A large luminous flame radiates ~130 kW/m² off its surface; at the default 40 m standoff that arrives as ~2 kW/m², double sunlight. Sunlight alone puts a parked dashboard at 70-90 °C, so the softened vinyl, the hot car body and the felt heat are all paid for at bonfire prices. The Texas record splits: its heat channel is cheap and its marrow channel is expensive, and no single source on this bench pays both bills.
The survival check is the referee. For any dose you dial, the bench prints how long a whole-body patient lives: indefinitely below about 6 Gy (the LD50 with full supportive care), about a month in the marrow band up to 8, under two weeks in the GI band, a day or two in the neurovascular band from 25, hours at 300 Gy. Any dated marker to the right of that expiry is impossible at that dose. The PMPA #6 patient's year of follow-ups is not just inconsistent with 300 Gy; it is the refutation, printed by his own physicians.
The injuries are reported and documented; the anchor bands and every price are modelled arithmetic pinned by the tune script; the three verdicts on the record, ionising-only, 300 Gy, microwave, are readings, and the bench prices them without adopting any. What it cannot do is name the cause: no dosimeter was ever pointed at either scene, and honesty about that gap is the instrument.
The two files on the dial
Both presets are dated records; the dials seed from each file's geometry and stay labelled as assumptions.
- Cash-Landrum 1980. FM 1485 near Huffman, Texas, ~21:00, 29 December 1980. Betty Cash, 51, Vickie Landrum, 57, Colby, 7. The flame-venting diamond, the heat, the softened dashboard, the 23 counted helicopters; that night nausea and vomiting, then blisters, hair loss, a burn-patient admission. The exposure gradient is the case's quantitative handle: the longer outside the car, the worse the injuries. Defaults: 40 m standoff, 5 minutes.
- BAASS PMPA #6 2009. North Georgia, 23:45, Friday 8 May 2009 (the book's own chapter header says 12 September; the clash is kept visible). A ~300-foot triangle answers a spotlight with a 2-3 foot bluish-white beam for ~3 seconds. Then the textbook year: next-day prodrome, day-18 photographed epilation, week-3 blood work, month-5 nodules, first-anniversary biopsy, and in June 2010 the physician's working hypothesis of about 300 Gy. Defaults: 30 m path, 3 seconds.
The readings, as they stand
Four readings of the same documented injuries, with who argued each and where the arithmetic leaves it. One leads but carries a megacurie bill; one is refuted by its own patient's survival; two stay open.

Try this
- Watch the survival check flip. Load PMPA #6, open the Clock, and slide the dose from 4 Gy up to 300. Past about 6 Gy the check turns red and starts printing expiry dates; past 25 Gy the verdict gives the patient a day or two, and hours by 300. Every dated marker to the right of the red wall is a follow-up visit the patient attended and a corpse could not.
- Find day 18. On the Clock, find the amber epilation window: 14 to 21 days, at 3 Gy and above, fixed by the biology of hair follicles. The Georgia file's photographed hair loss sits at day 18, dead centre. Decide for yourself what kind of witness invents that timing.
- Price the radiologist's verdict. Load Cash-Landrum, set the dose to 5 Gy, and open the Source view: ~7.4 megacuries of bare Co-60, about 5,400 Goiânia capsules, hanging over a farm road. Then drag the standoff dial and watch the inverse square move the bill. The verdict may still be right; this is what it costs.
- Price the microwave instead. Same case, Source view, middle panel: five minutes outside need 0.25 W/cm² at the skin, the steady-heating floor, and an emitter of about 2 kW: buildable. (PMPA #6's three-second burn needs 7 W/cm², still only tens of kilowatts.) Then look at what the microwave cannot buy: the day-18 epilation, the blood counts, the prodrome. Cheap hardware, wrong injuries.
- Let the heat pay its own bill. Source view, right panel: at the default standoff the flame column delivers ~2 kW/m², double sunlight. The softened vinyl and hot car body are paid in full at that price. Notice how much of the Texas record the cheapest channel explains, and exactly where it stops.
- Count the escort. Open the Escort view: 23 airframes, 480 tonnes, 25,300 litres an hour, 1.4 companies, and a denial. Arithmetic cannot pick a side; it can only show that formations that size are planned, logged and fuelled, which is why the count matters to every reading, including the mundane ones.
