The substitution labels PURSUE Release 06 prints in place of names in the AAWSAP records. On each of the 37 DIRDs, the author’s name is replaced by a label of the form AAP Person and a number, printed over the field, and the programme manager’s name by AAP Person 1, in or beside a thin ruled box; the AAWSAP Contract HHM402-08-C-0072 file adds AAP Person 4. None is a black bar and none carries an exemption code, unlike the coded redactions elsewhere in the same release.
Seven labels appear on more than one paper: AAP Person 58 on six, AAP Person 73 on three, and AAP Person 65, 72, 75, 83 and 85 on two each; four papers carry more than one author label. No page says what a label stands for, or whether one label always means one person. Some papers name or identify their author in their own text; the site’s briefings on Release 06 name no one the front matter withholds.
